Food groups

Nutritionists are the people who are dedicated to studying how foods are produced, what they are and how are the approaches the body. Since there are so many types of food in the wild, they have been studied for what they contain and where they are obtained.
Food groups are separated into two sectors taking into account where they come from:
a) Plant Foods are those that come from plants, either raw or processed, such as fruits, vegetables, flour, oil, margarine, bread, tortillas, cereal, etc…
b) Meat products: are those obtained from animals, such as chicken, beef or fish, milk, cream, bacon, butter, sausage, egg, and so on.

Nutritionists have found that food groups have four main types of nutrients

Sugars or carbohydrates: are compounds which provide energy to the body. They are present in plant foods, e.g. cereals, including rice, wheat and corn; tubers, such as potatoes and sweet potatoes and some fruits, such as apple, guava and banana.
Proteins: are substances that allow growth of the organism. Most of these we can find in foods of animal origin such as chicken, beef or fish, eggs, milk and dairy products (cheese, cream) and also leguminous plants (those that develop fruit in pods), such as beans, lentils and beans.
Fats: these substances, like sugars provide energy to the body so you can perform all your activities.
There vegetable fats, such as oils, peanuts, avocados, nuts, etc.., and of animal origin such as milk, cheese, butter, lard and pork.
Vitamins and minerals: they are food supplements that take advantage of the nutrients in the food. Almost all foods have some type of vitamin and also mineral water provides.
By knowing the type of nutrients and the roles they play, the nutritionists have developed a classification for each person in your daily diet includes any of the foods in each group:
Group 1. Cereals and tubers: energy sources
Most countries base their diet at some cereal; the most consumed are corn, where they prepare the tortillas, wheat for bread and rice, as an accompaniment of traditional Mexican dishes. Similarly, the potatoes are consumed frequently and are prepared in various ways. Foods in this group provide starches, which are exploited to obtain the necessary energy to study, run, play and even think. Energy provides the strength to do any activity.
Group 2. Legumes and animal foods: provide protein and fats
Beans are, along with corn, other food widely consumed in Mexico, there are many varieties of beans, and various forms of preparation. In this category are also all kinds of meat and dairy products, which are those that are made from milk, like cheese, cream, butter, etc… This group is the most important because thanks to the protein, the body can grow. Proteins are part of the skin, bones and all body tissues and organs.

To grow healthy and strong, you should eat foods rich in protein.

Another nutrient in this group is the fats with sugars provide energy people should not consume too much fat because it harms the body.
Group 3. Fruits and vegetables: complement the above groups and also provide vitamins and minerals
This group is very diverse. It is found in all fruits and vegetables, from tomatoes and lemons popular, even less known as Chaya and kiwi. Eat foods from this group is important because it will contain sugar, and therefore be energy, provide fiber that helps the body eliminate waste in the last phase of digestion.

Importance of Vitamins in Food Groups

Vitamins are food supplements that help the body to work properly.
The main vitamins and their functions are:

  • Vitamin A: is found in fish, milk and dairy, and egg; helps you see better at night and keep the skin healthy and moisturized.
  • Vitamin B: you get to drink milk, cereals and egg; helps the overall functioning of the cells, particularly the nervous, it also helps you sleep better.
  • Vitamin C: found in lemon, orange, green parts of plants (kale, spinach, green pepper).

The body needs to repair damaged tissue and to the proper functioning of the blood vessels so that blood no nose or gums frequently.

  • Vitamin D: you get from the egg, butter and liver also forms when sunbathing. It is very important because it helps the growth and strengthening of bones and teeth.
